Our legacy roots deeply into the medical vision of our main founder, Lasker Awardee Pr Etienne Baulieu

Mapreg was founded by Pr Etienne Baulieu, Dr Paul Robel, Dr Arlette Fellous and Dr Koichi Murakami in year 2000 when they discovered a completely novel path to heal the brain from the core of neurons.

• Etienne BAULIEU: MD, PhD, Lasker Awardee, worldwide expert of steroids, discoverer of neurosteroids, conceived and brought RU486 to women in needs, a medical achievement that breached as the only option to safe, intimate and efficient abortion . We inherited the vision of Etienne Baulieu to change people’s lives, as MAPREG carries his last discovery, based on a unique property of a special neurosteroid. Etienne passed on May the 30th, 2025.
• Paul ROBEL: MD, PhD, physiologist, has been working with Pr Baulieu for 50 y and is the co-discoverer of neurosteroids. Paul passed in February 2020.
• Koïchi MURAKAMI: PhD, worked under Pr Baulieu supervision to purify the receptor of pregnenolone in brain
• Arlette FELLOUS: PhD, Director of research at CNRS, expert in microtubules and MAP2, identified the cerebral receptor of pregnenolone purified by Koïchi as the MAP2 protein. Arlette passed in october 2023.
